Dressing Your Truth vs. What Not To Wear

Makeovers

Makeover shows are so entertaining. But they have a problem.

When a woman on a popular makeover TV show goes home with designer jeans and a trendy haircut, she still might not have a sense of her own beauty or the skills to recreate her made-over look on her own.

Why is that?

There are a lot of reasons. But one is an assumption built into our current fashion and beauty industry—it’s the lie that you can put beauty on a woman. I believe that every woman should (and can!) bring her true beauty out.

To bring your true beauty out, you don’t need a TV show, a big budget, or a pair of fashion co-hosts. You just need the skills to choose the right clothes, accessories, hairstyles, and makeup that honor your Type of beauty.

Take a look at this perfect example…

A woman with two makeovers

Meet Donna. Watch the video and learn how she did something not every woman is willing to do, or should ever have to do—she paid for TWO makeovers!

Makeover #1: What Not to Wear

Donna flew to New York City for the makeover trip of a lifetime.

She had her hair done by Nick Arrojo, the skilled hair stylist from the first 7 seasons of What Not to Wear. And she scheduled a makeup consultation with a professional makeup artist who occasionally works with the show. Her “What Not to Wear” hair and makeup makeover cost her just under $1,000.

Here she is with Nick Arrojo, and her new haircut:

Donna’s a beautiful woman, no doubt about that. But after her big trip, something still didn’t feel quite right to her.

Two months later, she discovered Dressing Your Truth. And she realized what had been missing from her first makeover…

What was missing was Donna!

Donna had not been considered when the stylists decided what was best for her in her What Not to Wear makeover. The “experts” decided which trends were popular at the time and then just put Donna in them.

Makeover #2: Dressing Your Truth

Soon after her What Not to Wear makeover, Donna learned about Dressing Your Truth and our personal online trainings. She wanted more for herself so she bought the program right away.

As a result, she gained the tools to become her own personal Beauty Expert—and she did this makeover herself. She didn’t need to meet personally with an “expert” who told her what to do. She learned from the Dressing Your Truth online resources and went to her hair stylist armed with information was just right for her.

And she didn’t get just a hair and makeup makeover. Dressing Your Truth also gave her the tools to makeover her clothes and accessories. Our online resources gave her principles she can apply every day. And by Dressing her Truth, Donna reserved her seat at all future Club Nights—fun, monthly events where women with a shared makeover experience gather to learn more and encourage each other.

What makes the difference?

Most makeover shows focus on the outfit, not necessarily the woman. They talk about minimizing certain parts of your body, hiding flaws, wearing black to look skinny—as if you’re something to camouflage and cover up!

On the other hand, a Dressing Your Truth makeover is based on the idea that every woman is beautiful. A woman who Dresses her Truth understands and feels that she’s beautiful, inside and out, and she knows how to express it in what she wears.

What Not to Wear is entertaining and fun and the hosts know a lot about their industry. But how practical is it as a guide for you?

Women who appear on the show receive $5,000 to overhaul their wardrobe. How many women have $5,000 to revamp their style? Dressing Your Truth is a practical, how-to fashion system that works for A LOT of women and for A LOT less than $5,000!

She looks so much more genuine in the DIY photo! Really lets her beauty shine, where in the first two she definitely looks fashionable, but really generic… It seems like she is this really fascinating person in the DYT photo.

She is gorgeous in the second makeover!  The first makeover was very bland and just so so.  Her personality does not shine through as it clearly does in the DYT makeover!
